(May 20, 2025) I-Pulse Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Robert Friedland, explained the enormous global demand for copper in Qatar, and how high pulsed power will quickly become integral to efficiently locating and mining sufficient copper reserves.
In an interview with Bloomberg TV’s Francine Lacqua, Friedland explained that “we need copper for everything. We need copper for the greening of the world economy, and we also need copper for national security. So we’re going from an integrated, just-in-time world to a just-in-case world. So everybody is scrambling for copper and other critical raw materials.”
Friedland then highlighted how high pulsed power technology is set to transform the mining industry: “Using compressed energy bursts from supercapacitors, we can reduce energy use in mining by up to 80% — a breakthrough for both sustainability and efficiency.”
Originally developed for strategic applications, I-Pulse’s technology is now being repurposed—with Western government support—for large-scale civilian use, particularly in mining. This innovation aligns perfectly with the urgent need to extract critical raw materials like copper with minimal environmental impact.
From reducing emissions to enhancing national resource security, pulsed power is not just an evolution, it’s a revolution!
